What this privacy policy covers.

This privacy policy applies to personal information that the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, Inc. (referred to in this policy as the “Chamber”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects and receives, including information related to your use of our website.  Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address or phone number, and other information that is not otherwise publicly available.  This Privacy Policy describes:

  • How we use and share your information
  • The choices you can make about how we collect, use and share your information

Personal information may become available to the Chamber through your use of our website and through your Chamber membership or submission of additional information to the Chamber.  Our collection and use of your personal information will depend on the extent to which you provide us with your personal information through this website, when and if our website requests information from you. We may also combine information about you that we have with information we obtain from your or other sources.

If you, as a visitor, choose to use our website or submit information to us in connection with your use of this website, then you agree to the Chamber’s use of such personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Chamber Terms and Conditions.  Should you agree to release your personal information to any third party, the privacy policy of the Chamber will not apply; such third parties have their own privacy policy.

Unless we obtain your written permission to use your personal information for other purposes, the Chamber will only use your personal information for the following purposes: (i) to provide Chamber members with a list of fellow members and contact information for networking purposes, (ii) to provide Chamber members with networking opportunities, (iii) to respond to your requests and inquiries, (iv) to provide you with information about the Chamber’s products and services, (v) to improve our products and services, (vi) to conduct research, and (vii) to contact you.

What type of information do we collect?

We collect personal information if you request membership, products or services from us, use an on-line form to send information to us or anytime you request information from us.  We also collect the following information each time you visit our website:

  • the date and time of your visit
  • what pages you went to
  • the site you had been to before you came to us
  • the type of browser you are using
  • your operating system
  • your IP address
  • your server address

Cookies and Other Similar Technologies

We use various Internet technologies provided by one of our third-party vendors alone or in combination to collect information about you and your use of our website for many reasons, such as administering and facilitating your access to and use of our website, understanding your behavior on our website and analyzing usage behavior.

What about websites you link to?

Linked websites are not covered by this Privacy Policy. If you do access other sites using the links provided here, they might collect and use your information differently than the Chamber.  The Chamber is not responsible for the policies, content, and practices of third-party websites to which the website may link. Please refer to the privacy policies of those sites to learn how they collect and use personal information.

Security of information.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer.

If you send us a resume or curriculum vitae (CV), such as to apply online for a position with the Chamber, we will use this personal information provided to match you with available opportunities.

Children should not have access to the Chamber website without parental permission.

We will use reasonable efforts to ensure that our communications activities comply with applicable law and to implement procedures to obtain necessary permissions before sending you emails with information about the Chamber’s products and services. At anytime, you may request that we discontinue sending you promotional materials, and we will use reasonable efforts to comply with your request.  Please follow the opt-out instructions provided in our communication or contact us.

Upon request by a member of the Chamber, the Chamber provides a list of Chamber member names and contact information to the requesting member for networking purposes.  The Chamber does not otherwise directly rent, sell or share personal information about you with other people, companies or other entities, unless you specifically provide us with your permission to do so.  However, the Chamber cannot and does not control use of membership lists and member contact information once it delivers this information to a requesting member.
Storing and Processing Your Information

Your information may be collected, accessed, processed and stored in the United States of America.

Unforeseen Circumstances

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Chamber will respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We may also share your personal information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action against illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of the Chamber Terms and Conditions, or as otherwise required by law.  In the event that a third party acquires the Chamber or any of its assets, personal information held by the Chamber may be one of the assets transferred. In such an event, we will notify you as explained below, under “Changes to this Privacy Statement.”

Changes to this Privacy Statement

On occasion, it may be necessary for the Chamber to change the terms of this Privacy Policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your personal information or by placing a prominent notice on the website, and your continued use constitutes acceptance of those changes. To ensure that you are aware of current privacy practices, we recommend that you check the website periodically.
