Women’s Chamber of Commerce OF PALM BEACH COUNTY Announces 27th Annual Giraffe Awards
Twenty-Eight Extraordinary Women Nominated in Five Categories
WEST PALM BEACH, FEBRUARY 23, 2023 – The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County is pleased to announce the nominees for the 27th Annual Giraffe Awards in honor of Women’s History Month. The month-long celebration begins a Women’s History Monty proclamation from the City of Greenacres. A special VIP cocktail reception will be held at Breakers West on March 8th, International Women’s Day, to honor this year’s nominees and to thank sponsors. The Event will also showcase a special musical performance by singer and songwriter Monique McCall. On March 14th the Board of Palm Beach County Commissioners will issue a proclamation as March is Women’s History Month. The highly anticipated 27th Annual Giraffe Awards Luncheon will be on March 15th at Tideline Ocean Resort and Spa on Palm Beach Island, where the winners in each of five categories will be announced.
“We are extremely excited for our 27th Anniversary of the Giraffe Awards Luncheon,” said CaraJoy Nash founder of The She’s Online Group and president of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce. “Since the first awards ceremony in 1996, there have been over 850 local women nominated for ‘Sticking Their Necks Out’ for other women in the community.” Nominees have taken on leadership roles in their business, community, and volunteering on behalf of others.
The 2023 Giraffe Award Nominees in each category are: Children and Youth – Yolanda Bates, Shawn Ho-Hing King, Nikki More, Christina Romelus, Edna W. Runner, and Lauren Sterlacci; Civic Service – Chantelle Brown-Davis, Hope Campbell, Dr. Karen Chambers, Wendy Sartory Link, Dr. Deeawn Roundtree, Megan Smith, Evelyn Walker, Grace Hyde Walker, and Maria Pumarejo; Health – Michelle Aldas-Ricks, Dr. Rachel Needle, and Dr. Karina Taylor; Large Business (51+ Employees) – Rachael Bonlarron, Vicki Chouris, Shauna Hawkins, and Sarah Wetenhall; Women’s Rights – Kristen Bardin, Anne Desormier-Cartwright, Joe Ann Fletcher, Ashley Mock, Sandra Powery Moses, and Brittany Shabazz. “Every year I look forward to Women’s History Month because we celebrate women for the good they’re doing in the community beyond their leadership roles,” said Nash. “When you meet a woman who has been nominated, you immediately know she selflessly gives to better the lives of others.”
The keynote speaker for this year’s luncheon is Naval Officer and COX Science Center and Aquarium president and chief executive officer, Kate Arrizza. The afternoon will be led by Emcee Stacey Leuliette, owner and editor of The Scout Guide – Palm Beach, Hamptons, Nantucket, Jupiter, and Palm Beach Gardens.
